The West Shore running program is a no-cut program for all Middle School and High School athletes attending West Shore Jr/Sr High with a commitment to all athletes at every skill level. We run thee competitive programs (SR/JR Cross Country, Sr Track and Field and Jr Track and Field), two conditioning sessions and a club program (Summer Miles) for entry in events not sanctioned by FHSAA or West Shore HS.
Summer conditioning is laid back program open to all runners and family that begins in late May and runs 10-12 weeks. Cross Country racing season opens in August and closes out the middle of November at the FHSAA State Meet. We take two weeks off and begin the Track and Field (T&F) conditioning program just before the winter break. We run an informal indoor T&F season in parallel with conditioning until we begin our official T&F season in February. The T&F season runs through mid-May. Another two weeks off and we start over again.
We do everything we can to keep competition local and affordable. Our program fees are some of the lowest in the county and we do our best to stay close to home. We fundraise during the year with interactive, athlete involved events. Our Booster club is integral to our success. If you’d like to get involved as a parent, this is a great place to start.
While this sounds like a huge commitment, we do our best to cater this program to the needs of every individual. There is a place for everyone on our team that is enthusiastically engaged in running. We work with many multi-sport athletes. We understand the academic demands of attending West Shore. Our success is evident in the number of valedictorians and most accomplished students standing on both the FHSAA State Meet stage as well as the stage at commencement every year.
